Sexual Health and Sex Therapy

Sexuality and sexual health are core parts of the human experience. Yet, sex and sexual issues often go unspoken or shoved “under the rug.” Many people grow up with the “understanding” that sex is “dirty” and/or “taboo” thus leaving them to learn about sexual issues from spurious resources.

People belonging to certain cultures, religions and communities are often expected not to think about and ask about sex; yet once they are thrust into an “acceptable” relationship (i.e. marriage), they are expected to perform and have a satisfying sex life.

Sex therapy encompasses tools, talk therapy, education, resources, and support with the
objective of addressing sexual health issues that are causing distress, low self esteem and pain.

Being a woman and/or a person of color often makes it more difficult to initiate and start the conversation. If you are experiencing sexual health issues (emotional and/or physical), come talk to me. I will provide a safe space to address the issue(s) on your terms. I feel that every individual deserves to experience positive and satisfying sexual experiences; thus, I am very passionate about providing safety, comfort, and tools to help individuals overcome related stress and anxiety. Although my sub-specialties in this field are desire discrepancy and pain issues, I work with clients on numerous other sexual health related issues.

I am a sex therapist, and my qualifications include the completion of the Sexual Health Certificate program from the University of Michigan, diverse experience working with individuals and couples and myriad relational and sexual health issues, expert supervision as I complete sex therapy certification with the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT), and continued education on the latest research in this field.
